An Auburn University student has been named after a man who fatally stabbed his mother to death inside her home last month.
Auburn University in Alabama has named a student after Michael C. Hern, who was charged with murder in the slaying of his mother, Ashley Hern.
Hern, 26, was found dead in her home in the town of Pahrump, about 40 miles northwest of Birmingham, in August.
A friend of Hern’s named him as a suspect in the killing, but investigators have said no one else was involved.
