SOUTH CAROLINA — A former South Carolina university football player and former coach was fired after the university received a complaint from a former player that he was assaulted and groped by another student.
The school’s athletic department released a statement Wednesday saying former linebacker Chad Krietz was fired effective immediately.
The university said the incident happened in June and the victim filed a complaint with the university’s sexual misconduct investigator.
Kriets alleged that he and a teammate were walking in the hall together in his room when they were approached by two males.
They then said they were going to have sex with one of the males, but when he said no, they said he had to leave, the statement said.
Krietz told ESPN he has spoken to his accuser and said that she was very upset by the incident.
He said he does not know what her complaint is and that she should speak to her attorney.
